Railbiking in the Adirondacks and Weekend at The Sagamore in Lake George, NY

Railbiking in the Adirondacks & Weekend at The Sagamore in Lake George, NY!

Railbiking in the Adirondacks – what is it?!

Railbiking is a pretty new concept, but if you never heard of it, it’s a pedaled power machine that you can ride on old railroad tracks that are no longer in use. We drove to North Creek, NY to experience our railbiking adventure!

North Creek, NY is 5 hours from our hometown in PA and only 25 miles from Lake George, NY. We decided to combine our railbiking adventure with a weekend in Lake George.

The Railbiking is run by Revolutionary Rail Company. All details and booking is on their website here. The Railbiking is very popular, and books up quickly, so we recommend booking in advance!

We did a short weekend trip so we left our home in the morning on Saturday and arrived early afternoon for our 2:00 PM railbiking time slot. You can choose from a 2-person rail bike or a 4-person rail bike. The ride is 7 miles out-and-back. The ride goes along the Hudson River and through the Adirondack forest. The ride takes about 2 – 2.5 hours.

The ride does take a short break to get off the rail bikes and explore the area a little bit!

Lake George

After our railbiking adventure, we headed 25 miles south to Lake George/Bolton Landing, NY to stay at the Sagamore. We loved this resort and hope to return someday! The resort sits right on the lake with amazing views.

The resort has a number of dining options. We chose to have dinner at La Bella Vita, out on the patio, overlooking the lake.

After dinner, we took some time to explore the property. The resort offers a lot of amenities and activities for families. That evening, they held a campfire with a live guitar player and s’mores!

The resort also offers a free tour of Lake George on board their vessel “The Morgan”. The tour is about 1.5 hours and is included with your stay.

In addition, there was a hiking trail right outside our room that we took advantage of in the morning before we headed home!

We can’t recommend this resort enough if you are looking to visit Lake George!
